Escalator

Escalator is kind of handling machines as inclined ladder at 30-35 ° to the horizontal with moving steps to move people from one level to another. The escalator has stairs that are usually attached to a closed circuit, which is driven by an electric motor through a gearbox. Escalator is indispensable in metro stations, railway stations, major shopping facilities, in underground passages.
An inclination of 30 º and 35 º are the common international standards for escalators.

The slope of 30 º

This slope provides the most convenient movement and maximum safety for the user.


The slope of 35 º


Escalator inclined 35 º is the most effective solution  as it requires less space and can be installed  with less costs. However, this  slope looks like too steep if hight gradient exceeds 5 m, especially when driving down. According to requirement of EN 115 when lifting more than 6 m angle of 35 º is not allowed. This slope is not allowed in countries that follow the standard ANSI (American National Standards Institute).

Optimal width of steps, pallets and rubber sheet

Escalators are available in widths of steps 600, 800 and 1000 mm. The most widely used is the width 1000 mm. Such a step width gives the user easy access to the sheet even with luggage and shopping bags. Other two dimensions are used mainly for less-visited sites or where space is limited.
